The Fifty Pence Piece Room, Return'd [2022 mix]

by Sunex Amures

/

about

A song for Hallowe'en. Or Samhain as is the Old Way.

The words were found on several occasions, each time scribbled in the endpapers of books that had been loaned from St Paul's Cray Library in Kent, circa 1973.

Some of you may already know them.

lyrics

Step in the room that’s like a fifty pence piece.
What do you see? The symbols in the gloom.
Light up a candle, suddenly all sounds cease
In the Fifty Pence Piece Room.

Now you’re inside, the seven walls surround you.
Nowhere to run, you’re going to meet your doom.
Where is the door? It used to be behind you
In the Fifty Pence Piece Room.
